McCain had said to cheers and applause in Columbus, Ohio: ‘Senator Obama took a very different approach to the crisis our country faced.  At first he didn’t want to get involved. Then he was monitoring the situation. [Made air quotes for 'monitoring the situation.'  Then grinned and flashed a sarcastic thumbs-up.]  That’s not leadership.  That’s watching from the sidelines.’

Commentary: Bankruptcy, not bailout, is the right answer

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (CNN) — Congress has balked at the Bush administration’s proposed $700 billion bailout of Wall Street. Under this plan, the Treasury would have bought the “troubled assets” of financial institutions in an attempt to avoid economic meltdown.

This bailout was a terrible idea. Here’s why.

The current mess would never have occurred in the absence of ill-conceived federal policies. The federal government chartered Fannie Mae in 1938 and Freddie Mac in 1970; these two mortgage lending institutions are at the center of the crisis. The government implicitly promised these institutions that it would make good on their debts, so Fannie and Freddie took on huge amounts of excessive risk.

Worse, beginning in 1977 and even more in the 1990s and the early part of this century, Congress pushed mortgage lenders and Fannie/Freddie to expand subprime lending. The industry was happy to oblige, given the implicit promise of federal backing, and subprime lending soared.

This subprime lending was more than a minor relaxation of existing credit guidelines. This lending was a wholesale abandonment of reasonable lending practices in which borrowers with poor credit characteristics got mortgages they were ill-equipped to handle.

Once housing prices declined and economic conditions worsened, defaults and delinquencies soared, leaving the industry holding large amounts of severely depreciated mortgage assets.

The fact that government bears such a huge responsibility for the current mess means any response should eliminate the conditions that created this situation in the first place, not attempt to fix bad government with more government.

The obvious alternative to a bailout is letting troubled financial institutions declare bankruptcy. Bankruptcy means that shareholders typically get wiped out and the creditors own the company.

Bankruptcy does not mean the company disappears; it is just owned by someone new (as has occurred with several airlines). Bankruptcy punishes those who took excessive risks while preserving those aspects of a businesses that remain profitable.

In contrast, a bailout transfers enormous wealth from taxpayers to those who knowingly engaged in risky subprime lending. Thus, the bailout encourages companies to take large, imprudent risks and count on getting bailed out by government. This “moral hazard” generates enormous distortions in an economy’s allocation of its financial resources.

Thoughtful advocates of the bailout might concede this perspective, but they argue that a bailout is necessary to prevent economic collapse. According to this view, lenders are not making loans, even for worthy projects, because they cannot get capital. This view has a grain of truth; if the bailout does not occur, more bankruptcies are possible and credit conditions may worsen for a time.

Talk of Armageddon, however, is ridiculous scare-mongering. If financial institutions cannot make productive loans, a profit opportunity exists for someone else. This might not happen instantly, but it will happen.

Further, the current credit freeze is likely due to Wall Street’s hope of a bailout; bankers will not sell their lousy assets for 20 cents on the dollar if the government might pay 30, 50, or 80 cents.

The costs of the bailout, moreover, are almost certainly being understated. The administration’s claim is that many mortgage assets are merely illiquid, not truly worthless, implying taxpayers will recoup much of their $700 billion.

If these assets are worth something, however, private parties should want to buy them, and they would do so if the owners would accept fair market value. Far more likely is that current owners have brushed under the rug how little their assets are worth.

The bailout has more problems. The final legislation will probably include numerous side conditions and special dealings that reward Washington lobbyists and their clients.

Anticipation of the bailout will engender strategic behavior by Wall Street institutions as they shuffle their assets and position their balance sheets to maximize their take. The bailout will open the door to further federal meddling in financial markets.

So what should the government do? Eliminate those policies that generated the current mess. This means, at a general level, abandoning the goal of home ownership independent of ability to pay. This means, in particular, getting rid of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, along with policies like the Community Reinvestment Act that pressure banks into subprime lending.

The right view of the financial mess is that an enormous fraction of subprime lending should never have occurred in the first place. Someone has to pay for that. That someone should not be, and does not need to be, the U.S. taxpayer.

VOTER FRAUD: OBAMA’S HOMELESS VOTE

Among the record number of voters expected to cast ballots this fall may be an increase from the homeless. Obama knows his constituency.  I am sure the plan is to overwhelm the polls with a deluge of last minute registrations to create chaos and force officials to allow questionable votes or they will be accused of “voter suppression”.

Advocacy groups and shelters across the country have stepped up efforts to register the 3.5 million people who drift in and out of homelessness in the United States.

“Just because we’re homeless or low income doesn’t mean we don’t have an opinion,” said Estelle Bearcub, who plans to vote for Barack Obama.  “It’s our right to vote.  And it’s our right to have our opinion count, too.”

I read recently that homelessness was down 12%. 12% decrease in a key democrat constituency – I am sure Obama will do his damn best to increase their legions.

Chutzpah: ACORN’s drive to lower mortgage standards paved the way for the meltdown – yet last week, it was holding protests like this one in Florida, trying to get a cut of the financial-market-rescue bill.

WHAT exactly does a “community organizer” do? Barack Obama’s rise has left many Americans asking themselves that question. Here’s a big part of the answer: Community organizers intimidate banks into making high-risk loans to customers with poor credit.

In the name of fairness to minorities, community organizers occupy private offices, chant inside bank lobbies, and confront executives at their homes – and thereby force financial institutions to direct hundreds of millions of dollars in mortgages to low-credit customers.

In other words, community organizers help to undermine the US economy by pushing the banking system into a sinkhole of bad loans. And Obama has spent years training and funding the organizers who do it.

THE seeds of today’s financial meltdown lie in the Commu nity Reinvestment Act – a law passed in 1977 and made riskier by unwise amendments and regulatory rulings in later decades.

CRA was meant to encourage banks to make loans to high-risk borrowers, often minorities living in unstable neighborhoods. That has provided an opening to radical groups like ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) to abuse the law by forcing banks to make hundreds of millions of dollars in “subprime” loans to often uncreditworthy poor and minority customers.

Any bank that wants to expand or merge with another has to show it has complied with CRA – and approval can be held up by complaints filed by groups like ACORN.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A coalition of Spanish-language media and community organizations kicked off a massive voter registration drive Thursday, aiming to register nearly one million Hispanic voters…

“This effort will not only put voter registration forms in the hands on Latinos, but also may help shape the political landscape,” said Janet Murgia, president and CEO of National Council of La Raza…

The campaign’s print media partner, impreMedia, will insert 990,500 voter registration cards into its publications between Friday and Monday in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, and Texas.

$140 Billion to ACORN ??

We may have just learned why the Democrat Party tried to run this $700 Billion  financial crisis bill down our throats.  More like $2 Trillion adding in what has already been paid out and what always happens, it costs more!

20%, $140 Billion, of the $700 Billion bail out was to go to ACORN. Until the Conservatives stepped in a threw some light on the deal.

John fund of The Wall Street Journal, reports:

“Indeed, Mr. Obama has extensive connections with the granddaddy of activist groups, Acorn (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), which has gotten millions in government grants for its low-income housing programs. In 1992, Acorn hired Mr. Obama to run a voter registration effort.  He later became a trainer for the group, as well as its lawyer in election law cases.

“Acorn’s political arm has endorsed Mr. Obama while its “voter education” arm has pledged to spend $35 million to register people this fall — despite a history of vote fraud scandals that have led to guilty pleas by many Acorn employees.

“The housing bill now before Congress would set up a slush fund for community organizations such as Acorn. But Acorn has gone quiet in its lobbying for the bill this week with the news that one of its employees — the brother of Acorn founder Wade Rathke — had stolen nearly $1 million from the group.  Mr. Rathke decided not to alert law enforcement or the organization’s board, and kept his brother employed at Acorn until last month. “Is this the kind of group we want getting taxpayer money?” asks Rep. Ed Royce (R., Calif.)”

This smacks of political favors that would have been paid for by the Taxpayers.  Obama is always surrounded by those that would do us harm.

This from the man who sucked up more dollars from the “greedy” and “irresponsible” than anyone and who employed:

So who was in charge of Fannie Mae for 16 of the last 18 years?  Let’s start with James A. Johnson (no relation).  Remember him?  Barack initially tabbed him to head up the Vice Presidential search team.  He was Walter Mondale’s campaign manager in the 1984 fiasco and chaired the search committee for John Kerry.  But he started as Vice Chairman of Fannie Mae in 1990, quickly moved up to be the CEO, and left Fannie in 1999 as Chairman of the Executive Committee.

And guess where he went? Fishing? Nope.  He became one of the outside directors of the board of Goldman Sachs in 1999 and also served as the Managing Director of Corporate Finance for Lehman Brothers.

The roles of Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers are important to understand if you are to make sense of Fannie Mae’s collapse. When Johnson moved to Goldman Sachs, the main man at Fannie was Franklin D. Raines.  Late in 2005 Raines resigned from Fannie Mae, accused of being in  charge when the books were cooked. The scheme is fairly simple.  Raines and other top executives made bonuses if they hit specific earnings targets for the securities sold by Fannie Mae. They regularly hit those targets until it was discovered by the (SEC) Securities & Exchange Commission’s top accountant Fannie misstated earnings for 3 1/2 years, leading to an estimated $9 billion restatement that will wipe out 40% of profits from 2001 to mid-2004. JM points our the stunning gaffe Obama made in his press conference Tuesday afternoon, responding to McCain suspending his campaign and the economic crisis.   Obama said,

“If they [Congress] need me, call me.”

Wow!

There could be no further contrast in leadership between these two men.  McCain rolls up his sleeves and says “let’s get something done.”  And Obama says “call me if you need me.”

When given an opportunity to serve his nation in a time of severe crisis, Barrack Obama decided that his own personal gain was more important.

Obama getting desperate?

I guess the “Chosen One” has nothing positive about himself to focus on, so the only thing he can do is attack the opposition and try to bring them down to his level, or lower, in an attempt to level the playing field.

How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis

Are Americans, who are footing perhaps a trillion dollar bill, even remotely interested in how it really happened? I ask you.  When we may very well be working 40-45% of the time for the government, will they inquire – how did I get here or will they listen to the complete line of bullshit the Obama, a chief moocher and looter, is inventing? I have to know.  The mainstream media is depraved. It does not do investigative journalism save to smear folks on the right.  And even then it is invented. They should aspire to the journailstic standards of the Enquirer. Instead,  they have 14,000 trolls in Alaska tracking what feminine protection Sarah Palin uses so that they might tie her to global warming.

In his incredibly short stint in politics, Obama was the second highest recipient of  Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac lobby dollars. Why isn’t the media ripping him a new %$#hole?

Why is a first term Senator pulling down almost $300,000 a year from Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, Countrywide Financial, and Washington Mutual? He has not even completed his fourth year in the Senate and received a total of $1,093,329.00 from these eight companies and their employees. (all data from OpenSecrets.org). John McCain’s numbers, according to OpenSecrets.org for the period 1990-2008 (i.e., 18 years worth of data) only collected $549,584.00. In other words, Barack is receiving $273,582.25 (and 2008 is not over) per year while McCain raised a paltry $30,532.44.

Want another shocker? Barack Obama has received more from one source–Goldman Sachs $542,252.00–than McCain has from all of the companies combined. Who the hell is more beholden to lobbyists? And why does a junior Senator from Illinois rate this kind of dough? (more here)

If shock of the crushing blow of 9/11 didn’t wake America up to Islam, will this crushing financial implosion? McCain must take the damn gloves off. This is a good beginning: Steve Schmidt, a McCain campaign senior adviser, on a conference call with reporters Monday said  that The New York Times “is not a journalistic organization.”

“Whatever The New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization,” Schmidt said. “It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day impugns the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor [Sarah Palin]. It excuse Senator Obama. …

“Everything that is read in The New York Times that attacks this campaign should be evaluated by the American people from that perspective – that it is an organization that has made a decision to deemphasize its journalistic integrity and tradition, to advocate for the defeat of one candidate – in this case, John McCain – and to advocate for the election of the other candidate, Barack Obama.”

Schmidt said later that the Obama campaign has been “abetted” by a compliant media that gives more scrutiny to the Republican than to the Democrat. (more here)

How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis Kevin Hassett Bloomberg hat tip JM

Back in 2005, Fannie and Freddie were, after years of dominating, on the ropes. They were enmeshed in accounting scandals that led to turnover at the top. At one telling moment in late 2004, captured in an article by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Peter Wallison, the Securities and Exchange Comiission’s chief accountant told disgraced Fannie Mae chief Franklin
Raines that Fannie’s position on the relevant accounting issue was not even “on the page” of allowable interpretations.

Then legislative momentum emerged for an attempt to create a “world-class regulator” that would oversee the pair more like banks, imposing strict requirements on their ability to take excessive risks. Politicians who previously had associated themselves proudly with the two accounting miscreants were less eager to be associated with them. The time was ripe.

The clear gravity of the situation pushed the legislation forward. Some might say the current mess couldn’t be foreseen, yet in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie “continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,” he said. “We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.”

What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets.

Different World

If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.

But the bill didn’t become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the  tight Democratic opposition, couldn’t even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then. Wallison wrote at the tim : “It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit. The Democrats and the few Republicans who oppose portfolio limitations could not possibly do so if their constituents understood what they were doing.”

Mounds of Materials

Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable. Many who opposed the bill doubtlessly did so for honorable reasons. Fannie and Freddie provided mounds of materials defending their practices. Perhaps some  found their propaganda convincing.

But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack  Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.

Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.

Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.

There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.

Oh, and there is one little footnote to the story that’s worth keeping in mind while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Senator John McCain was one of the three cosponsors of S.190, the bill that would have averted this mess.

Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee blocked efforts at fixing Fannie and Freddie. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) said, “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac… are not facing any kind of financial crisis,”

At least 18 times since 2001 Democrats blocked efforts at overhauling Fannie and Freddie even as accounting scandals and executive ripoffs became public.

Why? For starters, the top two recipients of Fannie and Freddie campaign donations were Democrat fatcats Chris Dodd ($165K) and Barack Obama ($126K) (Source: Open Secrets)

I have reason to believe that Joe Biden, citing health issues, will step down as Obama’s VP running mate on/about October 5th.  This will be after the VP debate on October 2nd.  Obama will name Hillary as his new running mate shortly thereafter.

Don’t be surprised when in the next several days, Biden steps down as Obama’s VP candidate citing health issues, and Obama names Hillary as his new VP choice.

One of the key moments in this development was when Joe Biden said in NH that Hillary Clinton would have been a “better” VP candidate than he.

I also believe the “transfer” of VP roles probably COULD take place as early as Monday, although it could occur somewhat later.  Biden — “health problems,” you know — will not be “sick enough” to drop out of his Senate race. Obama Pakistan Connections?

Obama’s background just gets curiouser and curiouser. I am still stumped as to how Dr. Al-Mansour came to mentor Barack Hussein Obama before he attended Harvard.  How did Obama come to know Dr. Khalid al Mansour, Senior Advisor, HRH Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, and where did Obama get the money for his long strange trip? For a “poor, starving, student” Obama sure had/has a collection of  rich, wealthy and politically connected muslims all over the world.

There is much we do not know about this man.  Even his alleged stint at Columbia is being called into question. “The Columbia years are a hole in the sprawling Obama hagiography. In his two published  memoirs, the 47-year-old Democratic nominee barely mentions his experience there.  He refuses to answer questions about Columbia and New York — which, in this media age, serves only to raise more of them.  Why not release his Columbia transcript?  Why has his senior essay gone missing?”

Obama’s larkana Connection Pakistan Times hat tip rut

United State’s Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has a connection with Larkana, city of Bhuttos of Pakistan. In 1981 Obama as a student visited Larkana for a partridge hunting session.   His host was one Hasan Chandio.   City of Larkana was renamed. Its original name before the raj was Chandka.  Chandios are still considered be the biggest landlords of Sindh.

During his visit to Pakistan he stayed in Hasan Chandio’s residence and later he traveled to interior Sindh for partridge hunting. In Sindh partridge hunting is considered as a symbol of good hospitality.

Hasan Chandio is Obama’s Pakistani friend who lives in Westchester County of New York. Obama also made friends with another Sindhi currently Chairman of Senate  Muhammadmian Soomro who hails from Shikarpur hardly one hour’s drive from Larkana. He lived at Muhammad Ali Society residence of Ahmad Mian Soomro father of Chairman Senate Muhammadmian Soomro.

While tracing this story this scribe found from Time Magazine that Obama’s mother was a regular visitor of Pakistan and she had little knowledge of Urdu.  Officially Barack Obama has so far not made his Pakistani connections public but he was quoted by Soomro that in Pakistan he came to know about Sunni and Shia sects.

His mother lived in 13 countries (according to an interview with half sister Maya).

Sen. Barack Obama does come from the Chicago school of politics, where historically voter turnout has been unusually high for residents of certain graveyards. And he has been unusually successful raising money.

Now, he’s raising money by raising the dead.

The Los Angeles Times’ campaign finance expert Dan Morain has found Obama campaign records reporting a $50 donation by Roy Scheider, who lists his occupation as actor and his home as Sag Harbor, N.Y.

Remember him from many great movies, including “The French Connection” and “Jaws” and the immortal line: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat”?

According to the campaign records, Scheider made the donation March 10.

Trouble is, Scheider died exactly one month before that, on Feb. 10, at age 75. Just another example of Hollywood’s undying affection for Democrats.

I believe that there are links and connections worthy of investigation between the Barack Obama campaign, William Ayers, the Annenbergs, and ACORN. For starters, keep in mind: that  Barack Obama was the first Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which was a Division, or Project, of the Annenberg Foundation.  Obama spent four plus years (1995-1999) as Chairman of the Board. William “Bill” Ayers, a Weather Underground terrorist and a friend of the Obamas, was instrumental in founding the Challenge, with his ties to Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley. Also, there are reports that the Annenberg files have been “locked down” under mysterious circumstances, after a reporter was promised access to those same files. Again, impartiality?  I don’t think it’s possible. (Stanley Kurtz, Op-Ed, “Inside Obama’s Acorn,” “National Review”, 05/29/08 ) Meanwhile, keep in mind:  ACORN has been a beneficiary of grants from the Chicago-based Woods Fund, which has a history of issuing controversial grants.  Ayres and Obama served together on the Fund’s board (and are still listed). [Other grantees during their tenure included PLO employee Rashid Khalidi and the Obamas' church, Trinity United.] Conclusions so far: Are you starting to see the potential connections and conflicts of interest?  Here’s what I see: 1.  Potential conflict of interest between Obama and anything funded by the Annenbergs, including Factcheck.org.  [Why were they one of only a handful of media to get a copy of the COLB?] 2. Obvious conflict of interest between Obama and ACORN:  He has been directly involved in funding ACORN, has worked for ACORN, and is now PAYING ACORN in exchange for assistance to his campaign. 3. What kind of assistance is ACORN providing the campaign?  It certainly makes you wonder, doesn’t it? 4. Is there a direct connection between the Annenberg Foundation and ACORN, with Ayres and Obama in the middle?  I’m curious about that too. To be continued…

Some Facts about Barack Hussein Obama in simple words

1. He was born from Muslim blood. (Which in Islam makes him automatically a Muslim)
2. He was educated in a school where as Muslim he was educated on Islam for a minimum of two hours weekly.
3. For a better education he attended a Catholic school, which many Muslims do.
4. He had nothing to do with Christianity until he married his wife.
5. He joined a cult church, a non-Christian church.

a) The church teaches separatism (black and white)
b) They teach black theology, not Christ Theology
c) The church honors and respects Islam and Muslims to the point they welcome Muslims to be members of the church and gave Louis Farrakhan an award for being the man who will unite the true Christian to the true Muslim to the true Jew. WHAT A CHRISTIAN CHURCH!
d) Why would Obama leave Islam to join such a church?  He joined skillfully to cover-up, knowing that a Muslim in America would have little chance to become a senator or the president.
e) When you believe in Mohammad you deny Christ.

6. He never denounced Islam or Mohammad or the Qur’an.
7. There is no record that he was baptized.
8. From his own words, we can judge him, for he made fun of Christianity, the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, which proves he is not a Christian.
9. When a Muslim leaves Islam to Christianity, there would be a 100% fatwa (decree for him to be killed) issued against his life.

a) A Fatwa has never been issued on Obama. But the opposite is true, for the Muslim world is endorsing and supporting him.  This includes Louis Farrakkan’s endorsement.  Some may say that Obama has distanced himself from his radical minister and from Louis Farrakkan but my response is very simple, it is an act because he, his pastor, and Farrakkan, know if he does not say that. he will lose the vote of the rest of the country.
b) He was welcomed to Kenya as a Muslim hero recently.
c) Muslims in America support him, even financially “One dollar for one nation under God “(Allah).
d) As a senator, he has and continues to employ members of The Nation of Islam.  Cynthia K. The First Amendment and the right to free speech

The following quote of the First Amendment is from the Cornell University Law School:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Many, many people have a dire misunderstanding of the First Amendment and what it guarantees. It guarantees the right to free speech. It DOES NOT guarantee the right to an audience.

Protesters can protest across the street from a political venue, or 50 miles away from the venue. Either way, they have the right to free speech and PEACEFUL protests. They DO NOT have the right to obstruct traffic. They DO NOT have the right to try to prevent people from entering a building, etc. They DO NOT have the right to be seen and heard.

It seems most, if not all, protesters are unhappy because they can’t protest in the place, and manner, of their choosing. As long as the government is allowing the protesters to have their say in a law-abiding PEACEFUL protest, their First Amendment right is not being violated.

These protesters, and their sympathetic friends, need to re-read the First Amendment and start playing by the rules like they want everyone else to do.

Until, and unless, another amendment is passed guaranteeing an audience for any/all protests, the protesters will have to learn to be happy protesting behind a fence, or where ever those in authority say they can lawfully protest.

Any disagreement with this should be directed to your elected officials since I can’t change the Constitution.

Michelle Obama, Pre-Programmed To Hate America

The flap over Michelle Obama and her “proud of America” remark is interesting in that this is obviously, for her anyway, a closely held belief that was more than likely drummed into her by her black theology church and college professors. Perhaps Michelle unwittingly has been brainwashed to hate her country.

Here’s the remark:

“What we’ve learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback, and let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic, common issues, and it’s made me proud.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country….” There are usually more than one reason to be proud of one’s country but it seems that she is only focusing on race.

Then, “And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.” Desperate, alone, frustrated, and disappointed those are some powerful emotions and all brought on by the “state of her country”! If things were as bad in this country as she implies, how then did she and and Barack manage to achieve the ultimate American dream — college, career, marriage, children, money, and now national notoriety. Things have changed in this country, it’s just Michelle can’t see it or just won’t let go of the past.

“I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic, common issues, and it’s made me proud.”: Operative words here: hungry, unified, and common issues. She’s just repeating political ideology.

She is way too bitter and angry, two negative emotions which can be all consuming and in the long run a useless waste of one’s time.
